FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my data not encrypted?

I have problems exporting
Why doesn't import or export work?
Why is my data not encrypted?
Have you set a password? Until you set a password, data can not be encrypted.
If you have set a password, and you are still seeing un-encrypted data, that is because you have entered the data into an un-encrypted category.
Data is encrypted according to the category it is in. In order to change a category to encrypted, select Category from the menu. Choose the category you wish to change from the dropdown list, and press the Edit button. Make sure that the Password protect .. checkbox is checked to have all data in the selected category encrypted. (Uncheck it if you want the data in this category to be clear text).
This allows you the flexibility of having your confidential data securely encrypted, while having quick access to other data.
I have forgotten my password, what can I do?
SafeDee was designed to keep your data secure. We use Blowfish encryption because of the strong protection it provides. Without a password all you can do is delete the database and start again:
Exit the SafeDee application. Using the console or File Manager, navigate to /home/root/Applications/SafeDee. Delete the file SafeDee.dat. The next time you run the SafeDee application, it will recreate a new empty database.
Before deleting your data, you may want to salvage any unencrypted data by exporting it to a file. Edit the exported file to remove any encrypted records, those containing "****" instead of sensible data. This file may then be imported back into SafeDee after deleting the database.
How can I add my own category icons?
Icons are 18x14 pixel PNG format files. These can be created by a number of graphics applications, on both Windows and Linux. Make sure the file has been saved with a .png extension. Copy it into the directory: /home/QtPalmtop/pics/bundu/icons.18x14.
I exported my data, but some of the records contain "****" instead of the expected data, why?
Encrypted data will be exported as "****". Please enter your password and try again.
Why doesn't import or export work?
Import and export are only enabled once this application has been registered.
